Dr. Robert J. Ebbesmeyer, Partner

Dr. Bob Ebbesmeyer has been with New Hope since graduating from the University of Missouri in 1990.  Previously a life-long resident of Missouri (as well as St. Louis Cardinals fan), he has settled into this area that has accepted him and his family so well.  His wife, Martha, works as the education coordinator for CAP (Conservation and Agriculture Partnership of Stephenson County). His children, Erin and Grant, keep the family busy.

Dr. Kurt Bales, Partner

Dr. Bales is an Indiana native and a 1987 graduate of Purdue University.  He was an associate veterinarian with the clinic from 1987 to 1988 and then returned to Indiana and practiced at a clinic that did mainly Amish work.  He moved back to Illinois in 1992 and has been with the clinic since then.  Dr. Bales has four children, three sons and a daughter.  Kalen is 24, Ben is 22, Daniel is 18, and Bethany is 16.  His wife, Vicki, is a registered nurse and works in the GI Lab at Freeport Memorial Hospital.  He has two rat terriers named Abby and Mazi.

Dr. Susan Myers, Partner

Dr. Myers is a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine.  After graduation, she spent two years in rural Pennsylvania before moving back to Illinois.  She and her husband, Ken Foltz, live in German Valley with their two dogs, three cats, and a snake.  In her spare time, Susan enjoys riding her motorcycle, camping, hiking, and cooking.

Dr. Ann Johnson, Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Ann Johnson is a 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois and a native of Belvidere, IL.  She has spent her first 3 years of practice at a mixed animal clinic on the Mississippi River along the Illinois, Iowa and Missouri border.  She enjoys spending her spare time with her 2 dogs, horseback riding, knitting and sewing.

Dr. Carolyn Sluiter, (Semi-Retired Associate Veterinarian)

As of the end of 2012, Dr. Sluiter is just working on Wednesday and filling in when needed.

Dr. Carolyn Sluiter is a  graduate of Oklahoma State University, joining this practice upon graduation in 1979.  Her background and interest in dairy production medicine was a major factor in joining this practice.  She is a member of the AVMA, ISVMA, and the AABP veterinary associations.

Dr. Sluiter spends a good share of her “free time” helping Larry, her husband, on the farm.  The Sluiter’s raise Hackney horses and it is not unusual to see them out and about driving their horses.  If asked, Dr. Sluiter will tell you it is more fun - and challenging- to handle a pair of horses than to fly a plane.  The Sluiter’s enjoyssports and working with the youth of their church and community.
